Sometimes being a therapist can really suck! Here's why:
- People assume you have the answers to their problems.
- People assume you're emotionally well.
- People assume you can handle "it", whatever it may be.
- People look to you for emotional support.
In this video, I talk about why it's important for you to create strong and consistent boundaries for the people in your life (including clients) so that you aren't left emotionally drained and without support for yourself. When you're the therapist friend, you often are the one whose expected to check in, but whose checking in on you?
